The study is devoted to the investigation of the specifics of pitch modifications of scale degrees in the process of performing folk songs, outlines the feature of the structure of scales of ritual genres (winter and wedding cycles) of two adjacent ethnographic regions - Eastern Podillya and Middle Dnipro Region. The thesis considers the principle of application of acoustic methods in ethnomusicological practice. An attempt is made to typology of stages of acoustic analysis - measurement, calculation and statistical data processing, the limitations of each stage are set. 70 songs from different ethnographic regions of Ukraine and different genres highlight the problem of nontempered nature of Ukrainian folk songs and acoustic features of different performance techniques.
