The thesis is devoted to the comparative study of political metaphors linguocognitive features in journalistic discourse which is based on the empirical material selected from the Ukrainian and English languages. The lack of related studies and general trend of modern comparative investigation in the domain of cognitive-semantic research, with the focus on comparative linguo-cultural modeling of the language, determined the choice of the topic. The study determines qualification features and classification parameters of political metaphor in modern linguistics. Also, the research generalizes and systematizes scholarly views on the issue of political metaphor study in journalistic discourse taking into consideration various linguistic theories.
