Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the specifics of professionalism inherent in the traditional instrumental ensemble culture of the Ukrainian Carpathians and 18 Western Polissia regions for the period from the 20th through the beginning of the 21st century. First of all, the concept of the Ukrainian traditional instrumental ensemble is clarified in the work. The author’s definition of this phenomenon is given. Thus, the traditional instrumental ensemblein folk music is: 1. coordinated joint play of two or more personinstruments (author's term); 2. a mobile group of musicians acting as a single artistic group; 3. ceremonial and folk music intended for performance in an ensemble.
