Varbanets S. Aortic root reconstructive surgery in patients of different age groups.

This Dissertation contains a theoretical substantiation and practical solution for the surgical treatment of aortic root disease in children and adults via performing various reconstructive procedures. Study included the analysis of the morphological features of aortic root structures in pediatric and adult patients with the research of particular qualities and efficacy of aortic root reconstruction. The study enrolled 152 consecutive patients with congenital and acquired aortic valve (AV) disease operated from 2004 to 2019 at The Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Valve sparing surgery was performed in 60 pediatric patients, (median age 9,62 years) and 42 adults (median age 41,43 years). AV reconstruction with autologous pericardium using the set of sizers and templates was conducted in 50 patients (9 children and 41 adults, median age 61,42 years). Series of experiments on porcine hearts were performed using set of original sizers and templates. Properties of AV reconstructed with autologous pericardium were studied via hydrodinamic testing.
