Essay

The thesis summarizes the theoretical aspects and practical problems of improving the efficiency of milk production at the agricultural enterprises. The vast majority of economists characterize economic efficiency as a comparison of the result with the costs incurred. In agriculture, it is customary to distinguish technological, economic, social and environmental efficiency. The author’s approach to determining the factor of relative cost efficiency, factor of variation of predicted values is proposed. It is proposed to clarify the definition of economic efficiency of agricultural enterprises as a process of comparing the resources spent by the enterprise, provided they are limited, with the result obtained, under decreasing returns law and maintaining the principles of sustainable development. It is proposed to consider the concept of sustainable development of rural areas as a development that improves the level and quality of life of rural residents while ensuring their social needs and the ability to pass on the natural biodiversity of the respective areas to future generations.
