Essay

The dissertation explores the fantasy style as an original phenomenon of Baroque keyboard music and proposes an approach to its performance in modern practice of harpsichord playing, based on stylistic reconstruction of performance traditions of the era, fixed in theoretical and methodological treatises of Baroque masters. The issue of work on the performance version of fantasy-style pieces is systematized into a methodological complex, in particular agogic, articulation and fingering, creating texture, reading chords on the harpsichord and ornamental decoration of musical fabric. A number of pieces by Italian and German composers-keyboard players of the XVII-XVIII centuries analyzed, the transcriptions of modern readings of fantasy pieces by representatives of the historically informed performance were made.
