Essay

The object of research - patterns of influence of initial and technological defects, operational damage, methods of blocking defects on the strength, rigidity and damage of float glass and laminated glass elements under static and shock loading, taking into account its speed. The goal of the study - to assess the strength characteristics of structural elements of glass, taking into account the defects and operational damage under static and dynamic loading. Research methods - experimental methods for research of strength, rigidity, damageability and bullet resistance of materials and multilayer elements under static and dynamic loading; methods of mathematical statistics for analysis of test results for strength, damage and fracture toughness, analysis of residual stress measurements of thermally strengthened glass, development of approaches to predict and increase the guaranteed value of float glass strength, determination of statistical distribution of “strengthening effect" ; methods of fracture mechanics to determine the "strengthening effect" of float glass modified by ion exchange. Theoretical results - further development of the concept for structural strength of float glass, based on control, elimination and blocking of initial surface microcracks, technological defects and operational damage, developing a new approach to forecasting and increasing guaranteed values of float glass strength, establishing patterns of industrial technologies of glass strengthening, including combined, the definition of "strengthening effects" of modified glasses, the development of principles for assessing the "residual" rigidity and fracture resistance of multilayer glass elements, locally affected by shocks. Practical results - the possibility of increasing the required guaranteed value of the float glass strength limit in the initial and strengthened state by choosing the modes and methods of processing, improvement of technological equipment and modes of hardening; establishing the efficiency of modification of float glass by combined technologies, which is used in the creation of laminated glass with high impact resistance; development of methods for assessing the characteristics of rigidity and fracture resistance of locally damaged transparent armor; creation of a software product for the analysis of hits under shock influences with the use of small arms; taking into account the speed of the impact load of transparent armor in real conditions, which reduces its weight. The materials of the thesis were practically used at the enterprise LTD "Glassware Plant" in the manufacture and testing of multilayer impact-resistant transparent blocks and in the CSRI AME AF of Ukraine in the analysis of hits under impact load. Scope - glass industry, building sector, transport industry, aircraft industry, military equipment and protective structures.
