Essay

For the first time in Ukrainian theological thought, the author made a comprehensive analysis of the philosophical, spiritual, ascetic, and theological aspects of the doctrine of the knowledge of God by Sophrony Sakharov. The ontological dimension of the Trinitarian theology of Fr. Sophrony is analyzed. The Christological aspect of the doctrine of the knowledge of God is the basis of his theological personalism. In the course of the research, a parallel analysis of the thriadological and anthropological mystery of the hypostasis-person was carried out, where the dynamics of the transition from individuality to hypostasis is the determining criterion of God-knowledge in the theology of Sophrony Sakharov. It is revealed that the discovery of the mystery of human personality is possible only in unity with the knowledge of the Divine hypostasis. The author reveals the basic elements of the ontological dynamics of the path of knowledge of God: the transcendence of the source of vocation, the historicity of this process, faith, kenosis, the importance of inner spiritual practice and rethinking mystical experience, the fullness of which is inconceivable without existential experience and its intellectual. Particular attention in the study is paid to the original concepts that Archimandrite Sophronius introduces into theological discourse, namely: «theological revolution in cognition», «dogmatic consciousness» and the state of «man of one idea». In the general conclusion of the dissertation, the author outlined the model of the theology of the Archimandrite as Christian personalistic existentialism and singled out the main ideas that shape his doctrine of the knowledge of God.
