Rybitskyi L. Improvement of the method for assessing the skid resistance of pavement.

The dissertation presents a new solution to the topical issue of improving the method of assessment of skid resistance of road pavements by increasing the requirements and restrictions to the process of measurement of friction properties, increasing the accuracy of measuring elements, work productivity, improving information and safety by automation of measuring processes and fixing the location of measurements. During the experimental research, it was established that the error of measurements with different modifications of UDVO is up to 5%; it was proved that two values can be measured - friction coefficient at rest and coefficient of sliding friction, using UDVO friction measuring device; the value of angular velocity, corresponding to the maximum friction force, is not constant value. As a result of research, main normative documents were developed and approved, and a modern device was developed for the measurement of skid resistance of road pavements. Using the developed methodology and device, the whole network of state roads of Ukraine was surveyed, and all Oblast Road Services were informed about road sections with insufficient friction properties of road pavements, where the works are required to improve friction properties and provide for traffic safety.
