Kriutchenko M. Socio-political, diplomatic and state activities of Dragan Tsankov

The object of research: the historical figure of D. Tsankov against the background of the era of the late XIX–early XX centuries in Bulgaria. The purpose of the research is to study of Dragan Tsankov's activity in public, political, diplomatic and state spheres. The methods used are the following: analytical, structural-systemic, analysis and synthesis, typology and classification, historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological, problem-chronological. The scientific novelty of the research: firstly the socio-political, diplomatic and state activity of D. Tsankov was analyzed; peaks of interest and the nature of the attitude of political opponents, the Bulgarian and international community to the figure of D. Tsankov were revealed; the image of D. Tsankov in the Bulgarian and foreign press is analyzed; traced the evolution of the political views of the figure during his life; the role of D. Tsankov in the development of the multiparty system of Bulgaria is studied; the contribution of the politician to the state-building processes is clarified; the peculiarities of the work of the unofficial diplomatic mission in the countries of Western Europe in 1876–1877 were determined; D. Tsankov's activity in emigration during the Stambolovist regime was studied. The practical value of the study: the materials of the research will be useful to supplement special works on the history of diplomacy, the national liberation movement, political processes and state formation in Bulgaria in the second half of the XIX - early XX centuries and preparation of training courses in the areas of «international relations», «history of modern and contemporary times», «biography».
