Paper analyses general theoretical positions on the determination of the category of "separated child" as a special category of asylum seeker. Legal grounds for obtaining the special status for a separated child as a condition for his or her legalization have been studied. The essence and meaning of administrative and legal support for granting the special status to a separated child have been revealed. The essence of the principles of administrative and legal support for the status of the child separated from his or her family has been considered. Administrative and legal relations in the field of granting the status of a child separated from his or her family have been characterized. The norms of administrative legislation that regulate granting a special status to a separated child are analysed. The mechanism of administrative and legal support for the identification of a child without parental care and the recognition of the child separated from his family has been studied and the ways to improve it have been examined.
