Zakrevska T. Procedural status of a witness in the criminal process of Ukraine

In the dissertation, a comprehensive study of theoretical and practical problems of the procedural status of a witness in the criminal process of Ukraine is carried out, taking into account the regulatory provisions of the current criminal procedural legislation and the theory of criminal procedural law of Ukraine. The history of the formation and development of the procedural status of a witness in the criminal process of Ukraine is demonstrated. The article provides criminal procedural characteristics of a witness as a participant in criminal proceedings. The testimony of the witness is characterized as a source of evidence. The analysis of the procedure for providing legal assistance to a witness in a criminal process is carried out and the specifics of its provision during certain investigative (search) actions are considered. Scientific views on the concept and boundaries of ensuring the safety of a witness in the criminal process of Ukraine and foreign countries are generalized. Ways of application and prospects for improving measures to ensure the safety of a witness in the criminal process of Ukraine.
