Essay

The thesis is submitted for receiving a candidate’s degree in political sciences, the specialization 21.01.01 – Fundamentals of the national security. – National Institute for Strategic Studies. – Kyiv, 2021. The dissertation is devoted to analysis of policy of countering media-information terrorism in the system of national security policy of Ukraine. Based on the theoretical, political, legal and empirical understanding of the problem of countering information terrorism by foreign and domestic researchers, the study identifies and discloses the content of priority areas and mechanisms of countering media-information terrorism. Attention is drawn to the fact that in the national political science discourse, the threat of media-information terrorism in the national security system is mainly considered in two dimensions: the legal dimension and the dimension of socio-psychological consequences. However, the genesis of information terrorism and its correlation with such security categories as «power», «information power», «soft power», «strategy of indirect actions», «information war» distinguished other shades in media-information terrorism. This refers to a deeper threat to the human person –a rapid change in his cognitive-behavioral sphere, which is occurring under pressure from everyday dangerous content of information communication. It is stated that the continuous fear spread by terrorists changes the tone in the sign-symbol infrastructure of man and society, its shades and content. Under such conditions, the principle of identification begins to work when life priorities are chosen not by the rational, but by the emotional sphere of the human psyche. Keywords: terrorism, media-information terrorism, national security strategy, information security, information war, hybrid war, tools of countering information terrorism, cognitive behavioral sphere.
