Essay

The dissertation is devoted to a comprehensive study of the history and activities of women 's Franciscan communities in Galicia in the second half of the nineteenth - early twentieth century. Among the large number of Franciscan women's communities, we focused on the study of the largest number of habitats that actively carried out educational and charitable activities in the region during this period. The dissertation for the first time comprehensively reveals the historical origins and spiritual foundations of the women's Franciscan orders of the Sisters of the Poor Clares, Bernardines and Congregations of the Felician Sisters, Hearts, Seraphim, Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary and the Albertine Sisters. An attempt is made to determine the number of community centers in the region and to characterize them. The urgency of the topic is due to the interest among researchers in the subject of monasticism and the gradual resumption of the activities of Roman Catholic monastic communities in Ukraine.
