Essay

The concept of Protestant work ethic, as well as theology and work ethic, which is associated with the peculiarities of work ethic and morality in the modern era and allows us to see the diversity of interpretation of the ethical system of work in modern Protestants, based on biblical texts and principles of classical Protestant work ethic. R. Schreiter's methodology is analyzed, which helps to understand how we can develop theology and work ethic in modern Protestantism, using the methodology of forming local theological systems, which are intended for both church communities and society. It is revealed that the formation of the theology and ethics of Protestantism began in the context of the Reformation processes that took place in Western and Central Europe from the end of the ХV – ХVІ centuries. The Reformation led to the fact that work ethic was no longer considered religious, but began to focus on secular activities. The secular profession was already regarded as the highest value of moral life and became an expression of the vocation of man, a manifestation of the vocation that gave secular professional activity a factor in the obligation to do God's will. It is revealed that the professional ethics of early Protestantism was ascetic and formed a cult of simplicity, thrift, neatness, obedience to the rules of conduct and rationalism and practicality. Protestant asceticism supplanted the desire to spend on luxury and aroused diligence and thrift, which led to the fact that European countries that embraced Protestantism became economically prosperous and prosperous. Protestant work ethic stimulated the emergence and development of entrepreneurship, which is one of the main features of a market economy. The main factors that motivate people to do business, including perseverance, resilience, self-confidence, purposefulness and meaning of life, are directly related to a worldview that is open to the outside world and to some extent distinguishes representatives of various Protestant denominations from Christians of Catholic and Orthodox Churches. The modern Protestant view of leadership has to do not so much with the figure of the leader himself as with the source of the leader's vision and understanding of where he should go and lead other people. Leadership requires a special understanding of the common goal that believers are committed to, and that everyone understands their own role and responsibilities. Mentoring is an important factor in the formation of Christian leadership, as well as a significant component in the implementation of the Christian mission. The situation of the influence of the Protestant work ethic on the Ukrainian society is analyzed. The transition from Protestant work ethic to leadership ethics through teaching and coaching is traced. The ideas of Protestant ethics have been transformed into the idea of training young leaders of the next generation who will be able not only to bring Christian values into society, but also to transform it by bringing radical ethical changes and influencing other citizens by their example. The theology of labor involves the study of questions about God, His work, understanding the purpose of man and his cooperation with God, as well as hard, dangerous and unjust work as a result of the Fall, etc.
