Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the research and development of a mapping method between the description logic data model and the relational data model as well as their approbation in the applied tasks. The main results of the work are as follows: a conceptual information ER-model of description logic was built using technology that provides: support for the open world assumption and non-uniqueness of names, a complete representation of all information components of description logic, the use of only unary and binary entities; the binary relational data model (RM2) is created, which is a special version of the classical RDM; the binary relational data structure(RS2) is described; a way to transform the n-ary (classical) relational structure into the binary is proposed; the binary relational algebra (RA2) is proposed; the RA2 operations, which result is an n-ary relation, are contributed into the RA2 in a modified form and have an unary or binary relation in result; a method of two-way mapping between ontological and relational data models has been developed, which is of a formal nature, is defined both at the structural and operational levels and provides for the mapping of the terminological axioms of description logic.
