Dissertation for obtaining the scientific degree of candidate of legal sciences on the specialty 12.00.08 – criminal law and criminology; criminal enforcement law. – Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, Odesa, 2023. The dissertation made a theoretical generalization and proposed a new solution to the scientific problem regarding the criminal-legal and criminological characteristics of desertion in Ukraine. The dissertation is the first comprehensive scientific study of the criminal-legal and criminological characteristics of desertion in Ukraine in Ukrainian jurisprudence, as a result of which a number of new provisions, conclusions and proposals were formulated, which are important both for the science of criminal law and criminology, and for practice. In the dissertation, a comprehensive analysis of the state of scientific research on desertion in Ukraine was carried out and its methodology was revealed; the genesis of the formation and development of criminal-legal support for the prevention of desertion in Ukraine is analyzed; foreign experience of desertion prevention was studied; objective signs of desertion in Ukraine are revealed; the subjective signs of desertion in Ukraine are characterized; the peculiarities of determining the qualifying signs of desertion in Ukraine are analyzed; the state and tendencies of desertion in Ukraine were clarified; an analysis of the determinants of desertion in Ukraine was carried out; a description of the personality of a deserter in Ukraine is given; the means of preventing desertion in Ukraine were revealed and suggestions were made for improving the current legislation aimed at preventing desertion in Ukraine.
