The dissertation is devoted to the linguistic and culturological analysis of phraseological units of ancient origin in the Ukrainian language world model.
The topicality of the topic is due to the need for a holistic study of the peculiarities of borrowing phraseological units of ancient origin on the actual Ukrainian linguistic soil. In the dissertation, for the first time in Ukrainian linguistics, the evolution of the associative field of these formations is described; the dynamics of changes in the meanings of phraseological units and the influence of socio-political crisis shifts on the associative field of phraseological units of ancient origin.
The work uses a comparative analysis of Ukrainian phraseological units with similar ones in the closely related Polish and distantly related English and German languages; linguistic and culturological analysis of phraseological units as language signs of culture; discourse analysis, which made it possible to trace the use of phraseological units within both artistic and journalistic texts; the psycholinguistic method of a free associative experiment with the aim of identifying the actualization of phrases in the minds of speakers and the dynamics of changes in the associative field; the method of quantitative analysis, which made it possible to calculate the percentage ratio of lexical-semantic groups of associates.
The practical significance of the dissertation lies in the possibility of applying its results in teaching activities, in lecturing for students on lexicology, phraseology and stylistics of the Ukrainian literary language, in the disciplines of specialization in linguistic and culturological studies, cognitive linguistics, comparative and comparative phrasemics, etc. The empirical material collected and analyzed in the dissertation can be used as a basis for compiling a phrase dictionary of the Ukrainian language of ancient origin with appropriate linguistic-cognitive and linguistic-culturological comments and start the preparation of a series of multilingual. The
empirical material of the dissertation can be used, in particular, for compiling an associative dictionary, which has no analogues in Ukrainian lexicography today.
It has been confirmed that linguoculturology as the newest linguistic paradigm allows to trace the accumulation of cultural heritage in language expressions, decipher embedded information, and investigate the internal form of language signs.
It was revealed that a person is a carrier and translator of a certain linguistic culture latently, without realizing it, because he grows up in it, absorbs the culture and traditions of his people, preserves, transforms and transmits it in linguistic forms, in particular, to the next generations dictionaries on the latest basis. Therefore, the specifically unique is best revealed in juxtaposition and comparison.
The results of a free associative experiment proved that phraseology of ancient origin actively function in the speech of representatives of Ukrainian linguistic culture, and the diverse content of semantic zones indicates the relevance and individuality of understanding the stimulus material.
The actualization of certain ancient images, the selection of mythologists and phraseological units, their transformations, variations, and the creation of new, actually Ukrainian phrases on the basis of borrowings – all this testifies to the assimilation of ancient motifs in the Ukrainian language.
