The complex of noninvasive methods was used to assess left ventricular systolic and diastolic function both at rest and during isometric stress in order to reveal early signs of specific heart desease in patients with type I diabetes mellitus. As a result, the quantitative criteria of diabetic myocardium impairment and stress-test to screen left ventricular diastolic dysfunction by pulsed dopplerechocardiography are proposed. Some parameters of left ventricular function appeared to be related with physical working capacity in patients with type I diabetes mellitus
