The dissertation looks the problem of oxymoron, which is one the most semantically concentrated contradictions of the being. In the research a new consept of the oxymoron is given not only in terms of the language, but also of a meta-language. The oxymoron is investigated in its correlation to varions modes of its existence: a trope or literary poetic symbol; a dominanting characteristic of the artistic entity; and a general antithesis.
