Essay

The object of study: dielectric and metal cylinders in layered media. The aim of study: development of methods to model filters, couplers, and reflector antennas. Methods: surface potential approach, method of analytical regularization, complex source point method. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: effect of the radiation and absorption losses in WGM filters and a possibility of WGM spectrum rarefying by using tubular and elliptical resonators are shown; excitation of the higher-order modes of the waveguide is studied; advantages of filters based on a metal cavity resonator and a rectangular dielectric resonator are demonstrated; features of WGM- and prism couplers are shown; the effect of imperfect flat earth on the radiation characteristics of reflector antenna is studied. The sphere of application: radiophysics, integrated optics.
