Essay

The thesis is devoted to investigation of the character of component's interaction in the Sc-R.E.E.-Si ternary systems. The phase equilibria of the Sc-{La,Pr,Nd}-Si ternary systems are determined at 870K. The phase equilibria of the Sc-{Ce,Sm}-Si ternary systems at 870K are defined more precisely in the >50at.%Si range. Totally 23 ternary compounds have been found. 17 compounds among them were synthesized for the first time. Crystal structure has been determined for 16 compounds. They belong to 4 structure types. Magnetic and electrochemical corrosion properties of some ternary compounds of the Sc-{Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm,Gd}-Si systems have been investigated.
