Lysodyed O. Criminological Aspects of Swindling

The specific sphere of social reality is fraud encroachments on private property of citizens (article 143 of criminal law of Ukraine). Carrying out a complex large scale study on fraud against citizens' property on the base of scientific analysis and of the practice of the struggle against fraud. Historical, law comparative, systemic structural, statistic and sociological methods of information gathering (interview, interrogation, observation and document study). For the first time in Ukraine the complex criminological study of fraud was carried out on the dissertation level, its criminological characteristics were provided, factors, reasons and conditions of the crimes of the kind were revealed and described, the preventive measures were suggested. The statements, conclusions and recommendations formulated in the dissertation widen and make more profound the criminological knowledge about fraud, about the criminal's personality, about the determination of the fraud and possible ways to prevent it. Th e results of the study are used in the activity of the law-enforcement bodies. The publishing of the scientific manual is planned. The sphere of application is law-making, law application and scientific research activity and teaching process.
