Essay

The dissertation is devoted to a study of comet West (1976 VI) dust tail by the surface photometry methods. Observations of comet West are used for obtaining a surface brightness distribution of comet dust tail. The model calculations of surface brightness distribution along synchronic bands in cometary tail are carried out. The results of these calculations are compared with surface brightness distributions obtained from outcames of photometrical measurements. The basic characteristics of cometary dust particles are determinated.
