The work considers the novels and critical works of а modern English writer, a man of literature, professor of Modern English Literature D.Lodge who represents the English university novel in the 1970s - 1980s. The evolution of a university text of English literature and the influence of postmodernism on modern literature are chosen as a context of the research.
