Platinum group metals (PT,Pd,Rh,Ru,Ir) solid phase extraction by carbon matials (CM) and ion-exchange resins from policomponent aqueous solutions was studied/ The sorbtion capacity of CM was found to increase with sorbent porosity rising and with surface functional groups' concentration decreasing. The similar sorbtion behavior of all platinum metals was observed in their microconcentration range, while maximal capacities concerning Pt and Pd were established to be 1-2 order higher as compared with those of Rh,Ru and Ir. Study of the processes with anionic, cationic and neutral platinum complexes made it possible to asses the role of ion-exchange in the course of adsorption by different materials. The interaction between the platinum metal' ions and the carbon matrix is proposed as the main constituents of sorption mechanism which explains the independence of sorption selectivity on nature and composition of CM under study. The possibilities of practical uyse of sorbents were shown.
