english anthroponyms of germanic origin.The aim of research is to decode their cognitive and cultural potential.The methods of research are semantic and onomasiological analysis, frame modelling.Treoretical and practical results consist in working out the conceptual scheme of anthroponymic novination, geting new quantitave and qualitative data on the principles of arranging elements within the anthroponymic stems, widening knowledge on cognitive potential of a personal name in a certain sociocultural context.Complex research of anthroponymics as conceptual units is held, congnitive modelling of mental processes underlying anthroponymic nomination is provided, the basis features of medieval Anglo-Saxons' mentality are revealed.The degre of implementation - the results obtained are used in theoretical courses of History and Lexicology of the anthroponymic English language, British country-study as well as in the optional course in English onomastics.The sphere of usage - teaching English practice, st udents' scientific research.
