Essay

The main purpose of the theses was the holistic investigation of polysemy as unity of formal and some notional sides of a language sign in the process of communication in synchrony, diachrony and panchrony of German within language, speech and communication. On the basis of the descriptional method with elements of component-distributional, quantitative-approximative method and historic-comparative method with elements of typological one it was proved that the invariants of polysemy are organized as a net in synchrony; the flow of depolysemizational processes is shaping the lexico-semantic system of polysemants in diachrony; the invariants are regular ones in panchrony and polysemy is specifically represented in lexicography. The results achieved have been introduced into investigational, teaching and lexicographical practice.
