Essay

The physico-chemical foundations of thermodiffusive saturation's intensification of titanium alloys in molecular nitrogen are developed. The effectiveness of such intensification's factors as temperature, temperature cyclic change, the partial pressure of nitrogen. For the first time the approaches to engineering of titanium alloys' surface at nitriding are proposed. It allows making control of the undersurface layers' structural and phase state and ensuring the regulated level of surface strengthening. The obtained structural and phase states of undersurface layers are analyzed in point of theirs service ability. The optimization of the condition and scheme of chemical and thermal treatment are made to form nitride layers with higher wear and corrosive resistance.
