Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of mechanisms of secondary sulfanilamide resistance (SSR) development in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The work is aimed on studying the mechanisms of SSR development and on developing the methods of its correction. In the process of the work the clinical, laboratory, biochemical, immunogenetical, and instumental methods; and gamma-tomograph, and apparatus "Eksan G" were used by the author. The results of long sulfanilamide therapy in type 2 DM are estimated. Genetic determination and heterogeneity of SSR are determined. Indications to combined treatment of SSR are developed. The methods of SSR treatment with acarbose and carbamazepine are proposed for the first time. Data are included in medical practice of endocrinologists and also in lecture course of medical institutions.
