Essay

As the study objects selected there were Pd (II) mono- and binuclear complexes, Pd-black, Pd(I) clusters, Pd-561 giant clusters, C1-C7 aliphatic alcohols and aldehydes, formic acid, benzyl alcohol and benzaldehyde, olefins - propylene and iso-butylene. The goal of the work is study of directions of Pd cluster formation as well as study of the nature of catalytic systems basing on the Pd clusters, creation of theoretical foundation for oxidation of alcohols in the presence of the Pd clusters. The various methods have been applied for the studies, namely, Gas Chromatography, IR-, UV-Spectra, Elemental Analysis, X-ray Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Phase Analysis and others. New approaches about nature of active centres of palladium catalysts for oxidation reactions of organic compounds have been formulated. General approaches have been developed for methods of obtaining the new generation catalysts - giant palladium clusters. Extensive studies of oxidation of aliphatic C1-C7 alcohols in solutions of giant palladium clusters have been carried out. There have been studied the reaction mechanism showing routs of product formation and reactive properties of intermediates.
