Boiko V. Synthesis of aryl perfluoroalkyl sulfides, aryl perfluoroalkyl sulfones and their reactions with nucleophilic agents

A new method for synthesis of aryl perfluoroalkyl sulfides based on the reaction of thiols with perfluoroalkylhalides, discovered by author, is developed. The competition reactions of trifluoromethyl sulfones with the nucleophilic agents are studied, that allow to reveal new properties of the electronwithdrawing groups. It was found that the hard reaction center is formed in the molecule with fluoro-containing groups, unlike the NO2, which formes the soft one. It was proved that aromatic compounds with the groups SO2CF3 are able to form the (-complexes by the interaction with nucleophilic agents. The meta- substitution reactions of X in 1-X-3,5-bis(SO2CF3)benzenes are studied and proved that the substitution in these series takes place only by intermolecular mechanism.
