Essay

The morphology, phylogeny, systematic, taxonomy and ecology of tiger beetle larvae of the world fauna is studied in details (on the whole for the first time). On the basis of this the independent position of Cicindelidae as a separate family within the suborder of Adephaga is substantiated. Two new subtribes are proposed, status of one tribe is changed and 1 tribe is rehabilitated. One new genus and two species groups of subtribe Cicindelina are distinguished. New catalogue of Cicindelina of Palearctic including 22 genera with 360species and subspecies is published.
