Essay

The research focuses upon one of the apical stages of the musical culture development in Ukraine, which was formed on the basis of synthesis between Slavonic and Greek traditions and is presented in terms of totally new types of musical notation, creation, pedagogics. An integral complex of fundamental means to form a sacral monody genre (stop, metrics, rhythmics) as well as the methods of stylistic identification of its national variety (Kyiv, Bulgarian, Greek singings) are researched in musical Middle Ages Studies for the first time. Mechanisms of contemporary reading of ancient relative notation are explained.The process of formation of a new musical pedagogics in Ukraine has been reconstituted.
