The subjects of the thesis is resolution of actual scientifical and technological problems of the formation of metal-carbides layers with stable structure formation and improved tribotechnical properties on the surface of iron-based alloys. On the basis of complex researches the main principles of existence and stability of composite materials designed for tribotechnical purposes have been formulated and systematised. Simulation of the composite structure it possible to formulate the basic demands to materials. Formation conditions of wear-resistant composite metal carbides materials and layers of ferricarbonic components in the form of powders, in the presence of exothermal effects had been worked out on basis of thermodynamic approach. This made it possible to recommend the experimental confirmed methods of the temperature windows calculation for carbide synthesis, melting conditions and formation of cast materials and coverings with eutectic structure. Structures, physical and mechanical properties of the formed coverings were investigated. The developed technological processes passed through industrial testing.
