Essay

Steel vertical cylindrical tanks for oil products storage. To develop complex methods for estimation and management of reliability of steel tanks. The main methods of researches were the methods of statistical analysis and probabilistic estimations as well as structural mechanics methods. Statistical regularity and probabilistic estimations of typical defects and damages were determined, their influence on load-carrying capacity was examined. Complex methods for estimation and management of reliability of steel tanks that differ by detail calculation of factors of tanks manufacture and exploitation were worked out. The results of technical state estimating and strengthening of tanks were included in industry normative documents and were introduced in exploitation practice. Area of application is transportation and storage of oil and oil products.
