Essay

It was proved that phensuccinal stimulated regeneration and secretion function of pancreatic beta-cells and protected ones from the destruction by diabetogenic agents. Administration of phensuccinal decreased geterogenous insulin resistance, attenuated diabetic micro- and macroangiopathy development in absolute and relative insulin insufficiency. Possible molecular mechanisms of multifactorial antidibetic action of phensuccinal (improvement of bioenergetics processes and suppression of oxidative stress in mitochondria and decrease of non-enzymatic glycosilation in diabetic animals were established. The results of investigation are used as theoretical substantiation of clinical trials of phensuccinal as potential antidiabetic agent.
