Essay

As a result of the historic and linguistic analysis of the geographic names presented in ancient written monuments, on maps, in lists of the villages, scientific and local lore literature and kept in memory by Crimean Tatars the main thematic classes of the Crimean geographic names (horonyms, hydronyms, oekonyms, and horonyms) have been ascertained and analized in lexical and semanic aspects and nomenclature of the Greek and Turkic geographic terms and other words forming the historic toponymy of Crimea has been established. It totals about 200 Greek and 2,000 Turkic lexemes.
