Zhylyuk S. Ideological Principles of Orthodox Renovation and Activities of All-Ukrainian Autocephalous Synodal Orthodox Church.

The dissertation is devoted to the analysis of ideological principles of Orthodox Renovation and the activities of the All-Ukrainian Autocephalous Synodal Orthodox Church. The dissertator comes to the conclusion that the movement for renovation of the traditional Orthodoxy is caused by the necessity to overcome the crises experienced by the Church, the main manifestation of which is the Church’s excessive conservatism and political bias. This movement is deeply rooted in history and possesses a profound ideological and theoretical basic. The researcher also elucidates the character of inter-Orthodox opposition in Ukraine at that period, points out the distinctive features of the crisis in the present-day Ukrainian Orthodoxy. This enabled the dissertator to determine the general tendencies of the dispute conducted by the churches over the problems of canonical order, autocephality, blessing and oecumenical recognition.
