Essay

The thesis is devoted to investigation of electron emission and bunching in RF guns and preliminary acceleration of particles in injector systems of linac. The main purpose is to increse the electron beam brightness and to design new linacs for scientific researches. The results of investigation, development and testing of devices for electron bunch length measurement and the experimental facilities have been described. The investigation results of different mechanisms of electron emission from dispencer cathodes, with RF field more than 107 V/m have been presented. There are electron linac based both on thermionic and photoemission RF guns have been designed and fabricated. The scientific results obtained during the development and establishment of compact linac- injector of synchrotron radiation source, and multi-purpose research linac with normalized beam brightness more than 109 А/m2rad2 have been given..
