Dissertation is devoted to development of general methods for selective functionalization of calix[4]-resorcinolarenes and calix[4]arenes at the wide rim of the macrocycles as well as to molecular design an investigation of the properties of new receptors, molecular capsules and self-assembling systems. A wide number of new calix[4]resorcinolarenes and calix[4]arenes have been obtained which bear at the wide rim of the macrocycle Н-donor, Н-acceptor and coordinating groups in various ratios. New highly stable hexameric hydrogen bonded capsules have been obtained, which are capable of including ionic and neutral guests in non-polar media
