Gedyo A. Social Status and Economic Development of Greek Communities in Ukraine in Mid XVII-XIX Centuries: Source Study Aspect.

The dissertation determines major development stages of the historiography of source study concerning the socio-economic history of Greek communities in Ukraine in mid XVII-XIX centuries. In archives of Ukraine and Russia, the availability of sources related to the socio-economic history has been determined. Heuristic work has been carried out in 55 library stocks of 14 archives in Ukraine and Russia. In the process of sources classification the conclusion has been reached as for the representativeness of actualized sources base concerned with the history of Greek communities in Ukraine. Attention is paid to the issue of archive heritage left by self-government institutions of the aforementioned communities. The integrated analysis of sources made it possible to determine the directions of historical reconstruction of the socio-economic history of Greek communities in Ukraine in mid XVII-XIX centuries on the basis of factual possibilities provided by the body of the sources analyzed.
