Essay

The research focuses on the study of verb-formation, which are built up by means of adding a reflexive complex to their motivating base. The reflexive complex is a compound formant, which may consist of a reflexive element, a prefix, and a suffix in their different combinations. Derivative verbs with a reflexive complex have been analysed in 22 Indo-European languages. The thesis presents typological characteristics of the verbs with a reflexive complex with application of rich language material. The basic semantic types and groups of verbs with a reflexive complex are ascertained, typological productivity of structural and semantic types is determined, the interlinguistic universals in the area of a combined reflexive verb-formation are established. The role of genetic, areal and typological factors in the organisation of verbs with a reflexive complex systems in the explored languages was determined. The typological questionnaire, which is valid for description of verbs with a reflexive complex in the other Indo-European languages, was elaborated and proved.
