Essay

The dissertation presents the whole picture of the Orthodox and academic philosophy of religion in the period of its establishment and development in the XIX and XX centuries. This attempt was made for the first time in the religion science. The researches were conducted based on the principles and methods of academic religion science. A detailed description in the paper is given concerning the issues in the field of religion. They include: relationships between philosophy and religion, philosophy of religion in regard to theological apologia, essence of religion, appropriateness of its establishment and evolution, religion and morality, faith and reason, faith and knowledge. A profound analysis is made on the problems of Orthodox and academic philosophy to prove the concept of God and His existence. A depiction of a mechanism used by theology a philosophical discourse in apologia of religion and theistic world outlook is of great importance. A big attention is paid to the analysis of discussions thattook place in the midst of Orthodox thought with rationalistic teachings of West European philosophy on the issues of religion.
