Posokhov S. The Russian Empire Universities in the Second Half of the XIX – Beginning of the XX Centuries in Journalism and Historiography

The object of study - various historical sources, but, first of all, publicistic and scientific works in which problems of functioning and development of Russian Empire universities in the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the XX centuries were reflected in. The purpose of study - general studying of the maintenance and the form of publicistic and historical works, other historiographic sources which contain the information on Russian Empire universities of the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the XX centuries; revealing of historiographic images of these universities and definition of their design and evolution features, granting of a general characteristic of the designated historiographic process. The methods used in the research are: system-structural, a method of a deconstruction, a method of historical and cultural attribution, historycal-comparative method. The paper is the first complex historiographic study, where on the basis of various historiographic sources the results ofthe study of the Russian Empire universities of the second half of the XIX -beginning of the XX centuries are summed up for a considerable period of time (from the middle of the XIX century up to now). The present study made it possible to determine some differences that were characteristic of some individual stages of this topic research as well as to clear up the peculiarities of the corresponding historiographic process. The present study provides some analysis methods of historiographic images, as a result of which at every historiographic stage dominant and marginal images were defined and their main structure elements were determined. The work reveals the factors, which influenced the evolution of the images of the Russian Empire universities of the second half of the XIX -beginning of the XX centuries and characterizes some debatable moments in modern historiography of the history of the Russian Empire universities of the second half of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries; in some cases the ways ofsolution of some debatable questions are suggested.
