In the process of smith forging, a great accuracy of the forging is of major importance. In the dissertation the analysis of the slotted section for measurement of the hydraulic press cross-bar position and velocity with the use of photoelectric transducer has been carried out. A dynamic model of the hydraulic press, taking into account the construction coupling the transducer with the cross-bar. The influence of the measurement bar and the transducer construction, the coupling construction and dynamics and the electronic signal processing circuits on the measurement accuracy have been described. Systems of transducer measurement pulses frequency multiplication, having strong influence on the measurement accuracy, have been characterised. A method of hydraulic press parameters identification has been also presented. The identified parameters are further used in the adaptive control system. The method determines the dynamic properties of the press and drive construction, using the nonlinear mathematicalmodel regarding nth nonstationarity of the object. The presented method of hydraulic press dynamic properties identification has been put into practice in the microprocessor technology and verified in operational conditions.
