Essay

The necessity of restructuring the content of teaching foreign languages is proved in the monograph. The author works out the general theoretical-methodological basis of the structure of the content of teaching foreign speech activity. This structure is given in the form of the general didactic model. The main links of the model are: the goals, the elements of the subject, the components of the content and the stages of teaching foreign languages.The goals of teaching: practical, developmental and educational are realized on the basis of linguistic progress, in which every particular goal correlates with one part of the material, and until it’s full achievement the next goal is not set. The elements of the subject of teaching are mastered in accordance with the aims of teaching in the following order: communicational on the basics of linguistics. The components of the content of teaching are the following: linguistic knowledge and habits, emotionally expressed linguistics, pre-speech, speech and integrated skills; speech material given in the textbooks and produced by the students. The stages of teaching are: Phonetic, Thematic and Integrated. The meaning of the components on the first stage depends on the phonetics which is being studied; on the second stage – on the topic which is being studied and on the third stage – on the subject which is being studied.
