Essay

The thesis aims in searching of regularities in functioning of hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal (HPAS) and symphato-adrenal (SAS) systems under low-dose ionizing irradiation. The phase character of changes in HPAS and SAS under single dose external irradiation of whole animal body (1,0 Gy) as well as in the conditions of long-term administering (0,6 kBq/animal, 270 days) of Cs-137 was established on the basis of morphofunctional characteristics evaluation in secretory cells of hypothalamus, corticotropes of adenohypophysis, cortex adrenocorticocytes, adrenocytes of adrenal glands medulla and hormone concentration in blood plasma. The shifts in HPAS and SAS of rats under low-dose irradiation in dependence of radiation sourse, dose value and irradiation duration were elucidated. Furthermore, the properties of biologically active food supplement elamin for the correction of induced disturbances in HPAS and SAS of rats were assessed with the aid of two experimental models, namely 1) combined action of single dose total irradiation along with immobilized stress; 2) Cs-137 long-term coming in organism. The efficacy of elamine therapy for children-inhabitants of radiation polluted territories was studied.
