Essay

The study focuses on the problem of how the development of interliterary relations is influenced by national images. The research is based on those facts of Russian literature directed at correcting the Russian image in France and found in works by N.M. Karamzin, K.N. Batyushkov, A.S. Pushkin, P.A. Vyazemskiy, D.V. Davydov, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.V. Gogol, F.I.Tyutchev, S.A. Khomyakov, A.I. Gertsen, M.N. Zagoskin, V.G. Belinskiy, N.M. Yazykov, L.N. Tolstoy and others. The strategy of research is determined by the necessity for comprehending the three main factors defining the essence and peculiarity of imagological  discourse. These factors are specific historical conditions, motives causing an author to enter into a dialogue and author’s tactics of influencing an opponent.
