Essay

The author carried out a comprehensive study of the influence of factors of ethno-social character on the formation and development of Ukrainian-Polish conflicts in the modern time. He proves that the violent ethno-social conflict between Ukrainian peasants and Polish land-owners after the partitians of Rzecz Pospolita existed both in Eastern Galicia, which became a part of the Austrian Monarchy and on the lands incorporated into the Russian Empire (Kyiv Region, Volhynia and Podolia). In Dnipro Region it dominated the social life until the end of World War I. In Eastern Galicia Ukrainian-Polish confrontation becomes ethnopolitical in character from the beginning of the 20th century.
